I can't ignore the elephant in the room: Trump's victory sucks, and these next four years are going to be even harder because of it. I have a support system in place so I have people I can rely on, but things got dark for me again this month. I just know there are going to be dips in my mood and some rough times ahead for me. Not much I can do to avoid this, but I'm going to try to get through them when they come. As for the rest of the month, I spent some time with my brother and some time with family generally helps my mood, so it was nice to know I can rely on that at least.
I finally got to the game Mouthwashing this month and I'm glad I played
it. Playing it inspired me to check out Paratopic, another game that
I've seen discussed in similar circles. That game was also pretty good. I
think they both have faults, but they're the sorts of games that I
imagine will stick with me. All of this reminded me of Thirty Flights of
Loving, another nonlinear narrative game that used jumpcuts to great
effect that I remember enjoying back when I first played it in, oh,
2011, but I couldn't get my copy to run correctly so I wasn't able to
revisit it. Still, if you want another narrative thing in this vein, I'd
recommend that. It's pretty brief.
If I'm being honest though, most of this month was spent playing the new Dragon Age.
I finished The Veilguard earlier this month and I'm still trying to come to terms with how I feel about it. It's flawed but it
is a new Dragon Age game, and with how climactic and conclusive some of it feels I have no idea how, or even if, they're going to follow it up (not to mention the fact I've got no idea if it even sold well enough to warrant a sequel). Not every franchise needs to go on forever but there was so much meat on this bone that it feels a shame to end things right after they brought it back.
I suppose I did watch some stuff this month. I got caught up on Dropout's Dimension 20 and started the process of watching Critical Role again (I'm still a few months behind). I enjoy these shows but I tend to let things fall by the wayside if I'm not careful and it's very easy for me to get behind on shows and things, even when I love them.
I continued my horror marathon by playing
SILENT HILL: The Short Message and I mostly enjoyed it. It's not the best but it's solid enough and it's appropriately eerie for a Silent Hill game. I also started the Silent Hill 2 remake but I still have a ways to go on that before I'm finished. I'll be done before the end of the year, but it didn't happen this month.
